Nokia dan T-Mobile baru-baru ini telah mengumumkan peluncuran ponsel terbarunya untuk pasaran wilayah Amerika Serikat yang dikenal dengan Nokia 5230 Nuron. Nintendo DSi XL dengan Ebook Reader Diluncurkan Maret di Amerika

Produsen Wii yaitu Nintento yang berbasis di Kyoto memperkenalkan video-game portabel DSi XL baru. Perangkat ini dirilis pada 28 Maret seharga 189.99 USD.

Perangkat ini memiliki layar yang lebih besar dari model sekaragn ini, akan menggandakan fungsinya menjadi perangkat reader elektronik saat Nintento memperkenalkan “100 Buku Klasik” pada Juni nanti.

Buku-buku klasik tersebut akan dirilis 14 Juni dengan harga 19.99 USD.

LG debuts T280 ultralight, X140, X200 netbooks

Well, it looks like MSI isn't the only company churning out new systems in advance of CeBIT -- LG has now also let out word of three new laptops and netbooks ahead of the big show. Leading the pack is the stylish, CULV-based T280 ultralight pictured above, which packs an 11.6-inch display, a choice of a 1.3GHz Pentium dual-core or Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB or 500GB hard drive, and a price ranging from $990 to $1,094. Joining it are the X140 and X200 netbooks, the latter of which actually looks to be identical to the X20 model we spotted at in the FCC's hands earlier this month. HP Unveils Digital Cameras and Camcorders Featuring Touch Technology

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HP (NYSE:HPQ) today introduced five point-and-shoot digital cameras and three camcorders with features such as LCD displays, up to 5X optical zoom and fashionable colors.

The cameras and camcorders come in slim, lightweight designs at prices ranging from $99 to $199.(1) They are expected to be available this spring at select retailers.

Adding to its growing portfolio of touch-enabled notebooks and desktops, HP now features LCD touchscreen displays on select cameras and camcorders. In addition, select models feature a new intuitive user interface that makes them a snap to use. Interface improvements include a high color contrast to help ensure better visibility of menus and a choice of more than 25 scene modes to help ensure photos are of the highest quality.

When choosing a scene mode, the display shows two images – how the photo will look in auto mode and how it will look in the selected scene mode. For example, choosing “snow” mode during a ski trip can transform overly bright, washed-out photos into vibrant depictions of the snowcapped mountains.

Acer Aspire One 532G first to feature NVIDIA Ion 2 switchable graphics

Well here's one we didn't expect to come out of MWC. Acer decided to throw some netbook news into its Liquid E press conference with the 10.1-inch Aspire One 532G -- the first netbook with NVIDIA's Ion 2. Not withstanding the addition of the HDMI port and HD display, the Pine Trail netbook has the same chassis as the previously reviewed 532h, but inside it's a whole different story -- its 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, GMA 3150 GPU graphics, 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive will be joined by a discrete NVIDIA GPU. As confirmed by the press release below, it will use NVIDIA's new Optimus automatic switching technology, though it appears Acer is holding out for NVIDIA to officially launch the platform at CeBit to reveal details of the GPU -- but a GeForce G310 seems likely from the rumors. The high-def capable netbook should be available in March, but we'll be listening for a price and more news on this one. In the meantime, hit the break for a relaxing hands-on video and the full PR.

Sapphire readies HD5850 'Toxic'

Sapphire presents the Radeon HD5850 'Toxic', an overclocked version of the HD5850 card with alternative cooling. The HD5850 Toxic uses a large dualslot heatsink with 'vapor chamber' technology and heatpipes. This vapor chamber cooling was already used in some of Sapphire's Radeon HD4800 cards and AMD uses the technology in the reference cooler of the dual-GPU Radeon HD5970 card. The vapor chamber functions as a heatpipe, whilst covering a much larger surface.

This allows the videochip's heat to be spread throughout the heatsink more evenly, increasing the card's overclocking potential. Sapphire claims that the Toxic HD5850 is up to 10dB faster than the HD5850's reference cooler, whilst keeping the GPU up to 15 degrees Celsius cooler. This advantage allowed Sapphire to overclock the card: rather than 725 MHz, the core is clocked at 765 MHz. The 1 GB of GDDR5 memory is also overclocked, from 4000 MHz to 4500 MHz effectively.

The Radeon HD5850 features 1440 shaderunits and standard HD5000 features such as DirectX 11 support, EyeFinity and CrossFireX. Sapphire uses the reference video outputs on its card, namely two DVI ports, an HDMI and a DisplayPort connector. Sapphire's new Toxic HD5850 can be pre-ordered at a price of 309 euro.

AMD reveals details first Fusion processor

During its presentation on the International Solid State Circuit Conference 2010, AMD has revealed some details in regards to its first Fusion processor.This CPU, or Accelerated Processing Unit, short APU, as AMD brands the chip, will be the manufacturer's first to combine a CPU and a GPU in a single die. As of yet, APU is cidebaned Llano, part of both the mobile 'Sabine' platform, as well as the 'Lynx' desktop platform.

With Llano, AMD wishes to skip a step competitor Intel made with its current Clarkdale and Arrandale series. These processors combine a CPU with a GPU, but consist of two seperate dies, manufactured using two production processes; respectively 32 and 45 nm. Llano's design concept is similar to Intel's Sandy Bridge processor, to be introduced next year.

Llano is to adopt the architecture of the current Phenom II and will be produced using a 32 nm SOI High-K Metal Gate process, allowing each processing core to consist of over 35 million transistors on a surface of only 9,69 mm2. The power consumption is limited to a range of 2,5 to 25 watt for each core, dependent on the clock frequency, which could run into the 3 GHz range. Also present apart from its four cores is 1 MB of L2 cache memory for each core, as well as a DDR3 memory controller and an Evergreen-derived videochip. These chips are currently used in the Radeon HD 5000 series and support DirectX 11 and hardware-accelerated video. Llano will not use any shared L3 cache.

Interesting for future notebooks is that the APU uses several new power saving features, including one called power gating. Power gating allows the system to disable one or multiple cores, reducing their power consumption to virtually non-existant. It's also possible that the remaining cores will then run at a higher clock frequency, similar to Intel's Turbo Boost.

The first Llano APU samples are to be shipped in the first half of this year, after which they will reach OEM-manufacturers in early 2011.

Lenovo Combines Workstation Performance with Unprecedented Price in New ThinkStation Workstation

Ponsel Samsung SWH-M100S Berbasis Android 2.1

Sementara ponsel Samsung Galaxy 2 belum diluncurkan secara resmi, baru-baru ini Samsung telah mengumumkan ponsel terbaru lainnya yaitu Samsung SHW-M100S. Dengan keberhasilan dalam menghadirkan ponsel terbaru ini, Samsung praktis dinobatkan sebagai salah satu perusahaan smartphone Android pertama di Korea Selatan.

Samsung SHW-M100S ini ternyata telah didukung oleh prosesor 800MHz dan memiliki sistem operasi Android 2.1. Ponsel ini sendiri dilengkapi dengan layar sentuh AMOLED 3,7 inchi, kamera berkemampuan 5 Megapixel, GPS dan konektivitas WiFi 802.11n.

Selain itu, Samsung SHW-M100S ini juga menghadirkan built-in T-DMB tuner dan mendukung pemutaran video DivX. Ponsel ini ternyata juga melibatkan TouchWiz UI untuk tampilan layar sentuhnya.

Mengenai keberadaannya di Korea Selatan, handset ini rencananya akan mendarat pada bulan Maret mendatang dengan ditangani oleh SK Telecom. SINGAPURA, RABU - Masih ingat notebook supertipis besutan Dell yang diberi nama Adamo? Yang seluruh badannya terbuat dari alumunium solid? Yang harganya premium, USD 2500, tetapi di Indonesia ke-50 unit yang tersedia habis terjual?

Nah, adiknya yakni Adamo XPS sebentar lagi juga akan hadir di tanah air. Adamo XPS sudah dijadwalkan hadir di tanah air bulan ini juga.

Layar XPS ini tetap 13,4” HD WLED 720p. Panel keyboard-nya pun tetap lega (full-size) Namun notebook yang dilengkapi SSD (solid state disk) 128GB ini sangat tipis (9,99mm) sehingga bisa dimasukkan ke dalam sebuah amplop coklat. Bobotnya pun hanya 1,44kg.

Rahasianya – seperti pada Adamo sebelumnya – antara lain terletak pada penggunaan prosesor Intel Core 2 Duo ULV 1,4GHz.

Adamo XPS, cerita Willy Hendrajudo, memang unggul di ketipisan fisik dan juga cara membuka notebook yang lain dari kelaziman. Sapukan jemari Anda ke bagian atas tengah casing Adamo XPS, dan lampu akan menyala biru. Casing pun akan otomatis membuka sedikit. Jika jemari tidak Anda sapukan ke bagian tengah casing, casing tak akan pernah bisa terbuka kendati Anda mencungkilnya.

Perbedaan lain, papar Willy, terletak pada baterai. “Pada Adamo XPS, baterai:Li-ion bisa dilepas, sedangkan pada Adamo sebelumnya tidak bisa karena baterainya ditanam,internal. Ini sebenarnyajuga karena keyboard XPS yang didesain untuk membuka agak naik ketika notebook dipakai. Jika ditanam, baterai itu akan mengganjal posisi tersebut karena letaknya yang agak menonjol.”

Selain desain yang menarik dan dimensi supertipis, harga Adamo XPS juga menarik. Menurut Willy Hendrajudo (Marketing Manager, Consumer, Dell Indonesia), harga Adamo XPS diperkirakan USD 1900. “Lebih murah USD 600 dibandingkan seri pertama Adamo, sehingga potensi pasarnya juga akan lebih besar dari Adamo.”

Mac OS X 10.3 installed on Nokia N900 via PearPC, barely usable for impatient geeks

Curious folks around the world enjoy a bit of hackintosh every now and then (although once is enough for many), but no geek has successfully ventured as far as Toni Nikkanen of Finland, who became the first person to run OS X on a phone -- the Nokia N900. As you can see in the video after the break, Toni's hack relies on PearPC -- a PowerPC emulator -- to install good ol' OS X 10.3 (Panther), but the mammoth sluggishness means it's far from usable. Still, if you can spare 90 minutes for each boot-up plus plenty more for the snail-paced cursor, then head to the source to learn from Herra Nikkanen.

Ipad, Tablet Apple Resmi Diluncurkan

SAN FRANCISCO, KAMIS - Kabar kehadiran tablet besutan Apple sudah beredar sejak awal bulan. Hari ini, Apple resmi meluncurkan produk yang dinamai iPad tersebut. Fisiknya mirip iPhone, tetapi dalam ukuran jauh lebih besar (dan tanpa kemampuan telefoni tentunya).

Mirip tablet lain, iPad adalah papan sketsa canggih, dengan layar sentuh IPS 9,7” dan tanpa keyboard. Perangkat berbobot 685 gram dengan ketebalan sekitar 1,27cm ini jalan di atas prosesor Apple A4 1GHz. Chip yang sama juga bertanggung jawab menjalankan semua proses grafis di perangkat iPad.

iPad datang lengkap dengan sebuah speaker dan mikropon built-in, fitur Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 2.1, accelerometer, kompas dan docking port standar Apple. Baterai perangkat ini ditanam, dan tidak bisa dikeluarkan. Menurut Apple, baterai tersebut mampu bekerja selama 10 jam, dan bisa siaga selama satu bulan sebelum perlu diisi ulang.

Dalam perangkat ini terpasang beberapa aplikasi standar Apple - Safari, Mail, Photos, Ipod, Itunes, Contacts, Notes, Maps, Youtube, dan aplikasi kalender. O ya, sebuah slot micro SIM untuk data 3G juga terkandung dalam iPad.

iPad dengan fitur Wi-Fi-only disebutkan akan tersedia di pasar AS dalam waktu dua bulan. Versi 3G-nya akan menyusul 30 hari kemudian.

iPad tersedia dalam beberapa variasi: model basic Wi-Fi-only 16GB yang dijual US$ 499, atau US$ 599 untuk 32GB dan US$ 799 untuk 64GB. Untuk model 3G, harga setiap kapasitasnya akan US$ 130 lebih mahal, yakni masing-masing US$ 629, US$ 729, dan US$ 829.

Selain iPad, Apple juga mengenalkan Ibooks yang memiliki kemampuan membaca e-book. Aplikasi Ibooks menayangkan rak buku 3D virtual dengan contoh-contoh yang bisa dilihat sebelum Anda membelinya.

Wii Classic Controller Pro coming to confused, oversized US living rooms in April

After doing the whole "Nintendo" thing in Japan, Nintendo has brought its Wii Classic Controller Pro Stateside to ensure us Americans were being properly Nintend'd to. That's right, yet another control mechanism, with its own set of slightly different buttons (this time dual shoulder buttons) and ergonomics (some DualShock-style grips) to thoroughly confuse and delight hapless Wii owners. Interestingly, the controller is making its debut in April as a bundle with Monster Hunter Tri; the game is compatible with the tried and true Wii Remote + Nunchuck combo and the hardly relevant Classic Controller, but we have a feeling those extra, Professional shoulder buttons will come in handy when plying the game mechanics of monster hunting. Separately the controller comes in black or white for $20, while bundled the game and controller will retail for $60. Our dignity as a once-proud Wii owner? Hardly worth a Craigslist listing.

Advan GT65: Memikat bagi yang Cekak

Meski notebook ringan jadi tren namun tak semua orang membutuhkan komputer yang selalu dijinjing ke mana-mana. Segmen ini biasanya membutuhkan notebook sebagai pengganti desktop untuk bekerja di meja dan lebih mementingkan kinerja serta harga dibandingkan desain yang manis. Kebutuhan inilah yang membuat notebook dengan layar besar dan bobot yang cukup berat tetap eksis, khususnya di tengah gempuran model kecil-ringan yang banyak dipromosikan vendor. Advan pun memerbarui model mereka untuk kelas ini, salah satunya lewat seri GT65.
Tak ada hal yang menarik dari desain GT65 karena bentuknya memang cenderung datar meski lapisan luar cover memakai bahan glossy yang mulus. Notebook dengan layar 14,1” ini juga cukup berat (2,5 kg) dan jelas tidak nyaman dibawa bepergian. Hal menarik muncul pada bagian keyboard di mana tombol-tombolnya tampak besar dan melebihi ukuran keyboard standar sehingga nyaman ditekan. Satu lagi kelebihan produk ini terletak pada penggunaan layar dengan pencahayaan LED yang membuat tampilan lebih cemerlang. Layar berlampu LED agaknya mulai banyak dimanfaatkan vendor sebagai keunggulan notebook mereka.
Faktor kinerja tampaknya juga lebih diutamakan pada GT65. Ini terbukti dengan penggunaan prosesor Intel T6570 2,1GHz dan harddisk berkapasitas 250 GB yang cukup lega. Namun penggunaan chipset SiS M672/968 kami duga tak akan mengoptimalkan kinerja notebook ini.
Seperti diketahui, sebagian chipset SiS memiliki kinerja yang lebih rendah dibandingkan chip Intel meskipun harganya memang lebih murah. Dukungan chip grafis di GT65 juga mengandalkan SiS Mirage 3 yang setara dengan VIA Chrome 9 dibandingkan dengan GM965 (X3100) atau GL40 (X4500) dari Intel.
Advan tampaknya memangkas kelengkapan pada GT65 mungkin karena ingin menekan harga jualnya. Pada notebook ini tak ditemui slot Express Card dan juga port FireWire, fungsi Bluetooth, dan juga hilangnya fasilitas modem dial-up layaknya ciri khas jajaran produk Advan.

Jika disimpulkan, Advan GT65 merupakan notebook pengganti PC dengan dukungan mobilitas lebih baik. Kekurangan fasilitas di sana-sini menjadi faktor yang tidak kami sukai. Namun harganya yang terjangkau (Rp4,9 juta) jelas sangat memikat bagi mereka yang berkantong cekak. Notebook ini memang lebih ideal bagi mereka yang mementingkan aktivitas office dan Internet semata. Dengan demikian, game 3D tidak termasuk dalam daftar yang diperhitungkan di sini mengingat kemampuan olah grafis produk ini kurang memuaskan. Namun produk ini sudah cukup memadai untuk memainkan game sederhana yang tidak berat. Anda yang lebih berkonsentrasi pada pekerjaan pasti akan merasa cocok dengan kinerja-harga yang menarik pada Advan GT65 ini. (Deny Prasetyo)

Palm Pre Plus (and Pixi Plus) review

It's been about a year since Palm pulled itself back from the brink of imminent destruction with the announcement of webOS and the Palm Pre, and even less time since the products announced actually hit the market. In that time span, the company has issued another handset (the small, less powerful Pixi), released a number of over-the-air updates to its OS (nine in all), and created and disseminated a slew of developer tools, including iterative releases of its SDK and a new web-based development environment called Ares. Throughout the ups and downs of the past 12-or-so months Palm has been "back," the company has stuck with Sprint as its lone carrier partner in the US -- so while it's been innovating and tweaking on its platform and devices, the third-place partner has kept it from the larger audiences AT&T or Verizon might offer. Now -- almost a year to the day -- Palm has turned around and opened its devices up to the country's largest carrier, in addition to bumping the specs and features of both phones it offers (the Pre getting an additional 8GB of storage and double the RAM, the Pixi is now equipped with WiFi). All the while significantly improving its SDK (with the new native Plug-in Development Kit) and app distribution model. So can Palm finally really get this ship sailing, court the developers it badly needs, and deliver on the promises of webOS, or is it too little, too late? Read on to find out!

Toshiba Mini NB305 review

If there's been a Renaissance man in the world of first-gen netbooks it'd be the Toshiba Mini NB205. Its long battery life, comfortable keyboard and attractive and sturdy build distinguished it from the others, even when it made a late entrance to the little laptop market last year. Like most manufacturers, Tosh has gone and refreshed its knockout netbook with Intel's Atom Pine Trail platform and slightly altered the design. But has the competition caught up to the $399 Mini NB305? Or does the Mini NB305 still hold a place in our hearts as the most versatile netbook out there? Straight up, we love the design of the Mini NB305. Compared to the Acer Aspire One 532h and the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE it feels tougher and it's just better looking. Sure, it may not be as dapper as the Nokia Booklet 3G, but its matte plastic lid adorned with diagonal raised lines and its silver-ish rounded hinge gives it some standout appeal. And yes, it feels good not to complain about a glossy fingerprint attracting cover. We also like the centered-on-the-hinge power button that glows when the machine is turned on. The six-cell battery has been remolded so it doesn't horizontally bulge out of the back, like it did on the Mini NB205, and it now only protrudes slightly from the bottom. The entire 1.4-inch thick chassis isn't as thin as the inch thin Aspire One 532h, but at 2.6 pounds it's still fairly light.

Around the netbook are the standard ports: three USBs, VGA, Ethernet, an SD card reader, and mic and headphone jacks. Many have been asking about the lack of HDMI ports on these new netbooks, and while we'd welcome the additional port for easily hooking up to a larger monitor or HDTV, it's obvious Atom alone can't handle even 720p videos, and thus it's been left off the list.

Asus UX30 : Kembaran Macbook Air

Pertama melihat Asus UX30, kami langsung teringat dengan Macbook Air. Pasalnya, banyak kesamaan di antara keduanya. Bentuk tombol chiclet, touchpad besar, dan desain yang begitu ramping adalah kesamaan utama keduanya. Bobot Asus UX30 pun hanya sekitar 1,45 kg, hanya terpaut sedikit dari bobot MacBook Air yang sekitar 1,36 kg.
Namun jika dibanding MacBook Air, Asus UX30 memiliki koneksi yang lebih lengkap. Jika membuka penutup port di sisi kiri dan kanan, Anda akan menemukan colokan HDMI, Ethernet, card reader, 3 port USB, dan mini Display Port. Lho, tidak ada VGA Out? Sebenarnya ada, cuma harus melalui converter khusus yang dihubungkan ke Display Port. Converter tersebut sudah disediakan dalam paket penjualan, namun berarti Anda harus memastikan converter tersebut tidak tertinggal jika ingin melakukan presentasi.
Kelemahan lain yang agak mengganggu adalah baterai notebook ini terintegrasi alias tidak bisa dicopot. Ini agak menyulitkan karena Anda berarti tidak bisa mengganti baterai tersebut sewaktu-waktu atau menggunakan baterai cadangan. Padahal dengan kapasitas baterai 3250 mAh, notebook ini kurang memiliki nafas panjang. Saat kami uji, notebook ini cuma bertahan dua jam untuk memutar video HD dan menjalankan Battery Eater mode Classic.
Namun untuk performa, notebook ini layak diacungi jempol. Berbekal prosesor Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 dan memori 4GB, performa notebook ini hanya kalah dari Vaio VGN-TT25GN.



Kesimpulan
Sejak pertama, kami sudah terpikat dengan desain Asus UX30 yang keren dan modern. Meski tidak orisinal, notebook ini pasti akan membuat Anda terlihat lebih gaya. Performanya pun cukup bagus, meski daya tahan dalam mode baterai agak mengecewakan. Harga Asus UX30 sendiri sekitar US$ 989 tanpa sistem operasi, jadi sedikit lebih tinggi dibanding notebook tipis lain. (Wisnu Nugroho)

ASUS UL80JT spotted with automatic switchable graphics, brags 12 hour battery life

How we missed this at the ASUS booth is beyond us, but leave it to the eagle-eyes at Ars to hone in on the ASUS UL80JT with an overclockable Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 310 graphics. So it's just a run-of-the-mill gaming rig, right? Wrong. The 14-inch laptop has switchable graphics like we have never seen before; the laptop
automatically switches, "second-by-second" between the NVIDIA card and the integrated Intel one, instead of the "standard" switchable graphics we've seen on laptops like the MacBook Pro 15 or ASUS UL80Vt which require users to switch manually. The major foreseeable benefit of this is longer battery life even when the system is using the discrete card, and ASUS touts 12 hours with the automatic solution turned on. No word on price or availability, but we're guessing ASUS will have more details soon and that we'll start seeing this this in more and more laptops as NVIDIA spreads the love around to the rest of the industry.

Lenovo IdeaCentre C300: Si Cantik Bergaya Klasik

Dengan desain cantik dan fasilitas komplet, bulan Juli lalu kami menyebut Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 sebagai representasi ideal sebuah PC AiO. Tak lama berselang, vendor tersebut kembali merilis keluarga IdeaCentre terbarunya berlabel C300. Bisa ditilik dari namanya kalau produk ini diset sebagai versi downgrade A600. Namun, segi desain tetaplah menjadi andalan Lenovo. Kali ini mereka memberi daya tarik dengan perwajahan bingkai yang bermotif klasik.

Perbedaan kelas dengan sang "kakak" segera terlihat manakala kami melongok spesifikasi perangkat kerasnya. Untuk menekan harga, Lenovo menggunakan prosesor Intel Atom. Tapi alih-alih menggunakan tipe N270 atau N280 yang sebenarnya ditujukan bagi netbook, C300 mengusung N330 yang disasar Intel untuk nettop. Wajar jika performa C300 terasa cukup gegas dibandingkan PC AiO lain selevelnya. Apalagi kalau sekadar digunakan untuk beraktivitas komputasi standar.
Tampil dengan layar 20 inci, C300 sebenarnya sangat cocok untuk memuaskan pengguna dari sisi multimedia. Ketersediaan DVD drive internal menjadi satu keunggulan C300 dibandingkan pesaing-pesaing sekelas yang umumnya cuma memberikan perangkat optis eksternal. Sayang, saat uji kemampuan memutar file video HD, jalannya tak semulus harapan. Pada beberapa bagian, gambar yang dihasilkan agak patah-patah. Namun tiada masalah kalau file multimedia standar seperti AVI, WMV, dan MP4 yang disetel. Penasaran dengan kinerja 3D-nya, kami memainkan game Doom 3 dengan C300. Hasilnya? Ternyata cukup oke. Jauh lebih mulus dibandingkan saat memutar video HD.
Lenovo IdeaCentre C300 menyediakan pilihan konektivitas yang terbilang lengkap. Terdapat 6 port USB, 1 port PS/2 (untuk mouse), port FireWire, LAN, pembaca kartu memori 6-in-1, dan juga fasilitas Wi-Fi.
